babies should never have to cry themselves to sleep....never....ever....despite what my husband may say. those poor shrilling cries should never be heard by anyone. but i heard them. strapped down to the couch i heard them. my husband said i wasn't allowed to get her until i did the dishes. and there were a lot. a whole sink-full as a matter of fact.
don't get me wrong. my husband is top of the line awesome and nice and caring, and in no way controlling like i just described...he just wanted to test the waters and see if ryleigh would be able to fall asleep on her own.
so...to the dishes we both went. shaun turned the stove fan on as we cleaned the kitchen to somewhat drown out her crying in the hopes that i would stop crying from listening to her cry. (gosh we sound like great parents, huh?)
attempt failed. i could still hear her. hours went by it seemed...however in all reality most likely only 5 or 10 minutes.
i couldn't handle it a moment longer and went in to save the poor baby. she had never been so happy to see me, but at the same time she had this look on her face like 'why would you ever do this to me mom?'...
it was the worst.
then, shaun came in and saw her little sad face.
he agreed it was the saddest sight he had ever seen.
we vowed to never ever do that again. ever.
so - she spent the night in our bed with us. snuggled right smack in the middle.
and that's just the way i like it.
: ( parenting is rough : ( not looking forward to situations like this.
ReplyDeleteyou make me laugh. Enjoy the little moments. Pretty soon they won't want to cuddle anymore.
